State Farm Insurance and the Ryan Gelbrich family are proud supporters and volunteers of the Awesome 3000 which has grown from 350 runners in 1983 to over 3,200 participants today. Since the first run, the Salem-Keizer Education Foundation and people from around the nation have applauded tens of thousands of young winners who have crossed the finish line.
Working to build positive self esteem in kids the Awesome 3000 Recognized as one of the largest, timed, youth-only runs in the nation, the Awesome 3000 is a positive and challenging experience for all. Course distances of 1000, 1,500 and 2,000 meters are offered for elementary runners, while middle and high school students run the full 3000 meters. Additional courses of 300 meters encourage special needs and pre-school participants.
